The brief: capture the breathtaking views of the Waikanae hills — the solution: a home carefully nestled into the earth with a soaring roofline framing the horizon from Kāpiti Island to the Kaikōura Ranges.
Project Overview
Perched high in the Waikanae hills, this exciting new build captures some of the most breathtaking views on the Kāpiti Coast. Carefully nestled into the earth, the home feels grounded and protected, while the soaring roofline opens dramatically to frame the vast horizon — from the Kaikōura Ranges in the south to Kāpiti Island, and on a crisp winter's day, even as far as Mt Ruapehu and Mt Taranaki.
Ground Floor
The lower level offers three generous bedrooms, a second lounge, a stunning feature bathroom, and a spacious double garage — perfect for family living or guests.
Upper Level
A statement staircase leads you up to the heart of the home. The open-plan kitchen, scullery, dining and living area is designed for effortless entertaining, centred around a striking feature fireplace. Expansive stacker doors open onto a large deck — the ideal spot to soak in those extraordinary views beneath a soaring veranda roofline. The master suite is also located on this level, featuring lofty ceilings and a wall of glass that frames the ever-changing landscape beyond.
Exterior Design
The exterior blends natural and contemporary materials, with rich cedar accents contrasting against sleek dark cladding — a timeless and elegant composition that sits beautifully within its hillside setting.
When complete, this home will be offered for sale — ready for a new family to enjoy the spectacular outlook and relaxed Waikanae lifestyle.
